Welcome to the National Center on Senior Transportation

The National Center on Senior Transportation (NCST) strives to increase transportation options for older adults to support their ability to live independently in their homes and communities throughout the United States.

Evacuation planning is a critical element in emergency preparedness, especially planning for the evacuation of people with disabilities and frail older adults. Easter Seals Project ACTION (ESPA) is conducting a brief survey to assess what communities are doing to plan for such emergency events and how the public is involved. ESPA will use this information to facilitate the sharing of best practices. Complete the survey today.

In honor of National Volunteer Week (April 6-13), the National Volunteer Transportation Center has extended the STAR Awards application deadline from April 11 to April 14,10:00 p.m. (EDT). STAR Awards will be given to programs and services that involve volunteer drivers and/or volunteer escorts in providing transportation, in amounts ranging from $2,500–$10,000. Organizations are encouraged to submit nominations for this opportunity to shine a light on high quality volunteer transportation programs that serve older adults in communities nationwide. Read more about the STAR Awards criteria and access the online application.
